Financial Costs of World War 1
Aside from the millions of casualties that resulted from WW1, countries ended up with a heavy toll on their wallets. Germany, alone, was charged nearly 38 billion dollars, only comparable to Great Britian's check of over 35 billion. On top of these immediate costs of the war Germany was forced to make reparations of 64 billion dollars, or nearly 785 billion dollars by today's standards. These extreme financial costs and excessive reparations would lead to feelings of resentment between Germans and the Allied powers.
Financial Costs of World War 2
World War 2 was not only the deadliest war in history but it was also on of the most costly. At the time the total cost to the nations involved in WW2 was over 1 trillion dollars; today that would cost over 11 trillion dollars!
